Week 6

Hey All, it was another great week in the majors with home runs being the theme of the week with 32 of them being knocked out of ballparks on Wednesday alone. Let's see whose knocking it out of the park in the Longball League.

In first place by a slim two points are the Thunder Mountain Lightning. Hot on their heels are the invisible Hands and the Tax Dodgers. Then there is a good gap before we see The Mighty Mollusks in fourth place. Several teams are bunched within a few points of fourth place. Will any of these teams make a serious run at the top? Only time will tell.

Trivia: Back in 1982, the Atlanta Braves looked like they were cruising to the NL West Division title when the Braves management decided to take down the teepee of mascot Chief Nokahoma that was sitting in the left field bleachers. Fans were angry and said it was a bad idea to mess with the chief's tent. The team then lost 19 of their next 21 games. A panicked Ted Turner had the teepee put back in left field. The Braves responded by getting back on track and winning the division title.

Baseball Card of the Week: Glenn Hubbard was an infield mainstay of the 1982 Braves. Here's a shot of Glenn on his 1984 Fleer issue. And yes, that is a snake around his neck in one of the worst baseball cards ever made. Enjoy.

Until Next week folks, remember that old Arlington Stadium, the former home of the Texas Rangers, was the first big league ballpark to offer nachos for sale at the concession stands.
