Cool Baseball Card of the Week: 1967 Topps #33- Athletics Rookie Stars
In honor of Memorial Day, the Commissioner would like to remember the last batter ever for the Kansas City A's. On October 1st, 1967 the KC A's played their last game. It was a loss of course v. the New York Yankees. The last batter was a rookie infielder sent in to pinch hit for Catfish Hunter. The pinch hitter was Sal Bando. Bando lifted a soft fly ball to right field for the final out and the KC A's were no more. The A's would move and Bando would be one of the corner stones of the Oaklnad A's dynasty years of 1972-74. Here's Sal's split rookie card with Rick Schwartz.
