Week 16
Hey All,
This was a good week in the baseball. Any week that features the induction of new members to the Hall of Fame is a good one. So, here's to umpire Doug Harvey, manager Whitey Herzog, and Former Expo and Cubs standout, Andre Dawson. You're all fine additions to the Hall of Fame. I also would be remiss if I didn't mention announcer John Miller's induction into the braodcaster's wing. Miller is one of those great voices of the game that we are all lucky to hear call a game.
Well, it looks like the standings tightened up in the longball league again with the top five teams separated by eight points!!!!
This week's trivia and baseball card of the week are rolled into one as we salute HOF pitcher Warren Spahn for an amazing feat. From 1947 to 1963, Spahn won 20 games each year. That's 17 straight 20 win seasons! Nobody else comes close in this statistic. Here we see Spahn pictured on his 1963 Topps card.
Until Next week folks, remember that a pitcher can't fake a pickoff throw to first base. Once he makes his move to first he has to throw to first. If he doesn't, it's a balk.
