Useless Baseball Stat of the Week:  While watching the Angels-Braves game Sunday night, the stat for longest average home run distance was put up on the screen.  It was really neat see Mike Trout up there as #2 to Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins at 420.3 feet per home run.  Then, I thought, "Wow, what a useless stat!"  I understand that an epic blast of home run that rattles around the upper deck of a stadium is awesome, but really doesn't it just matter most that the ball left the yard at all?  As far as I know if the ball barely clears the fence or is knocked out of the stadium it still counts as a home run. If any of you have a great use for this stat, email me.

Best baseball over football decision made in recent years:  Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins made the right decision a few years back when he chose baseball over football.  For those who don't know this fact, Giancarlo Stanton used to go by Mike Stanton.  As Mike Stanton he was a top notch WR/LB from Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks.  He turned down scholarship offers from USC and UCLA among others to play baseball.  Good move, Mike.

Until next week folks, it doesn't matter how long they travel, all homers count the same in the Longball League.

-The Commissioner
