CORRECTION:
There was a big error in last week's standings. The LA LA Landers were credited with one extra pitcher on their roster. This has been fixed and their lineup is correct as of this week's blog.
Very Cool Baseball Thing of The Week
If this was a part of your growing up, you were lured into the world of APBA Baseball with ads like this one...
Who wouldn't want to manage real major leaguers? With APBA baseball it was possible. The game game with 20 players per MLB team, some situational charts, a sacrifice booklet, and two dice shakers, four dice, and guaranteed fun. APBA baseball is fast paced with all possible outcomes for an at bat handled by those 36 magic columns as seen in the ad. Other games came out later that were more intense with greater degrees of realism like Strat-O-Matic Baseball and Dynasty League Baseball but, for a good, fun, quick paced game that lasts about 20-30 minutes, nothing can beat APBA. You'r not gonna get too in-depth with strategy in APBA, but you will get an enjoyable game with realistic results. This simple little game has built up quite a following over the years. Annual conventions to play the game and a brisk eBay trade in older card and game sets keeps this card and dice game going strong in this age of Xbox and PS4. So, have some fun folks. Load up a shaker and roll those dice. 66s!
Until next week folks, remember that the pennant race is a marathon and not a sprint.
-The Commissioner
