It was a crazy last day of the World Series as both teams had last minute roster moves going on the mound.  As Zack Greinke was nailing down another win for the Dodgers, Felix Hernandez was doing the same in Seattle.  However, it was an event in Oakland that may have decided this World Series.
Hernandez was pitching his heart out trying to take the Mariners to the post season.  However, when Oakland won, the Mariners were eliminated.  That A's win happened when the Mariners were batting in the bottom of the sixth.  It was then that Hernandez's day was done.  He gathered his things in the dugout, bid farewell to his teammates and fans, then headed into the locker room.  How would have this World Series turned out had Hernandez pitched those final three innings?  Hmmmmm.

So now folks, we are at that time of year when playoff baseball will played in the fading light of autumn. That means another season of the Longball League is over.  I, The Commissioner thank you all for being a part of this league. Now, I leave you with the great words of Grantland Rice's great poem, Game Called

Across the field of play
the dusk has come and the hour is late.
The fight is done and lost or won,
the player files out through the gate.
The tumult dies, the cheer is hushed,
the stands are bare, the park is still.
But through the night there shines the light,
home beyond the silent hill.

See ya next season,
-The Commissioner
