Week 12
Hey All,
It's great to be back here blogging after a great week in Lake Tahoe. I also did get to see a cool minor league ballpark during one of our stops on the road trip. I got to see Banner Island Ballpark, in Stockton CA. It's home to the Stockton Ports. The Ports are an A-Ball team in the California League. However, a quest for a cap from there was thwarted by a closed team store at the ballpark. Oh well, back to the bigs. How about that Edwin Jackson no-hitter last week? How about the Angels taking 5 out of 6 from the Dodgers in interleague play? Finally, how about the Blue Jays having to play three "home games" in Philadelphia after being pushed out of the Rogers Centre by the G20 Economic Summit?
The Thunder Mountain Lightning have jumped back in first place with Mo's Mollusks hot their heels. Meanwhile, the Invisible Hands, Tax Dodgers, and San Pedro Sea Monkeys all remain within striking distance. Also, from the quietly making noise department, David Wright is really having a great year for the Keen Koalas.
Trivia: The Rockies have two former SEC quarterbacks in their starting lineup. Seth Smith and Todd Helton both played QB in the SEC. Smith played for Ole Miss, while Helton called signals at Tennessee. Both Smith and Helton also hold a tie to the Manning family. While at UT, Helton played with Peyton, while Smith played with Eli at Ole Miss.
Baseball Card of the Week: Well, how could it be anybody other than Edwin Jackson of Arizona? His eight walk, 150 pitch effort wasn't beautiful, but it was a no-no. Edwin is pictured here on his 2010 Topps card which doesn't reflect his pickup by the D-Backs. We'll have to wait for his update card to see him in an Arizona uniform.
