Week 26

Hey All,

With the way the final week of regular season went, it looked like we might have the first 164 game regular season in baseball history. However though, the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres on Sunday and took the National League Western Division crown. So, no extra games were needed and the season ended on Sunday. Now, onto crowning the champions of the Longball League.

The champions of the Longball League for 2010 are the San Pedro Sea Monkeys who prevailed in the tightest pennant race in league history. The Sea Monkeys are repeat champions of the league, having won the title in 2009 as well.

Now, to hand out some league awards...

Big Bat Trophy: This award goes to the Invisible Hands. The Invisible Hands roster cranked out 110 home runs to lead the Longball League.

RBI King Trophy: This award goes to the Tax Dodgers who led the league with 339 runs batted in. That's a pretty big feat from an expansion team.

Just Win Baby Trophy: This award goes to the Thunder Mountain Lightning. Their pitching staff led the league with 38 wins.

Smoke Thrower Trophy: Goes to the San Pedro Sea Monkeys. Their pitching staff led the league with 451 strikeouts.

Well folks, another regular season is over in the big leagues and the playoffs are at hand. I just want to thank everyone who played in the league this year. I hope you had fun and will join up again for next season. So enjoy the playoffs, and have a great fall. We'll meet up again when pitchers and catchers report to camp.
